Dover Road Works

Does anyone know if the Great Dover Roadworks are still grinding on, please? I'm wondering how they affect getting from CC Blackhorse Farm to Eastern Docks.

Many thanks

Graham

Hi Graham,

We went over Easter and left Black Horse CC Site at 7.45am - did not experience any traffic problems.

Did not experience any the night before either but then again, due to M40 closing, we did not get to the site until 12.30am - no problems with traffic then.

We had no problems coming into Dover just over a week ago but leaving Dover a couple of days earlier we were diverted to the B2011, rejoining the A20 about halfway between Dover and Folkestone. If I remember rightly, this diversion is only in operation at night, though.

Yes, they are still on-going. we came through Dover 2 weeks ago, early morning and it was ok with no hold ups. the official advice though is to add half hour to your journey (sound advice as things do change depending on traffic flows/ road closures etc)

In case you haven't seen it note that the rules have changed at Black Horse Farm which make late arrival and early departure rather more difficult.

There are a couple of CLs (in the book) on the Folkstone road just off the A20 at Capel-le-Ferne which are easy access and have electricity on the pitches. May be better than BHF and certainly cheaper!

Graham,

Yes the works are still going on, but I see that a lot of surfacing has now been completed.

From what Woody has said about Black Horse Farm, another suggestion may be Hawthorne Farm at Martin Mill, just north of Dover. That is accessed from the A2/A258 and is literally minutes from the port and you miss the roadworks as well!

Oh yes, and there are a couple of good pubs in Martin village where you can get fed and watered!!

You should have no problem leaving the site but you now have to arrive by 8pm the night before.

I have heard on Radio Kent today that the roadworks have been suspended for this Bank Holiday Weekend.

Presumably they may do the same at the end of May.............

Thank you for letting me know.

We are off to France through P&O Dover ferry early wednesday morning. Has anyone any up to the minute information about the Dover roadworks? Or any others we should know about between Derby and Dover?
