HI everybody well of we went on hols and our new alko towed like a dream no more fighting our way passed lorries, hooray!!

Not a single snake, we put it to the test on holiday in france cough, cough, no speed camers not that we did over the limit away...

But, isn't there always a but. When braking we got fed up of the clunking, is this common? Didn't seem to matter if it was 40 mph or 4 mph..

Quite simply, the answer to your question is no it is not common and it is not normal, I suggest you get it checked, sounds as if the overun linkage is not adjusted properly.

Just before going away the dealer did the brakes on the van. With the hand brake on they could move the van.

It seems to happen when you press the brake peddle to hard or have to stop quickly.

It sounds like the van shunting up the back of the car.

Not to bad if we change down gears

Hi Smiley

this sounds like the overrun on the tow hitch is worn, may need new damper? we had this same problem on our boat trailer, new damper, now no clunk

Smiley, if it feels and sounds like you ar ebeing shunted by the van when braking, the hitch damper has failed and needs replacing.
