Andrew..are the taps microswitch operated or is it a pressure system, look under the sink and if it has wires going to the taps then it's microswitch.

Andrew, it would appear that the micro switch for the bathroom hot tap is faulty. You can prove this by opening the cold tap slightly to operate its micro switch, which will start the pump and then open the hot tap to get the water through ( there is a seperate microswitch for each tap but of course only one pump - so opening any tap will set the pump running).

The reason you get hot water for a short while when opening the bathroom hot tap is because of the pressure in the water heater.

Andrew, is it possible that you disturbed the connections to the nicro switch whilst replacing the hoses?

excuse my ignorance we are new to this, so if we open the cold tap slightly then try the hot tap we should get water thru hot tap and would this prove to be a micro switch problem.

Mike, No I am just a caravanner of a number of years with a bit of technical knowledge. I caravanned with a DA section of the C&CC and there was a wealth of knowledge spread amongst the members. I belong to the age group who used to strip car engines down at the weekend for fun. I guess our generation knew how electro/mechanical things worked, whereas nowdays they know how to load a computer program. Incidentally that was the time when 'Practical' in the title of a magazine meant what it said. I cut my teeth on Practical Motorist and could strip car brakes down at 18, I think that more articles of 'how to find faults on the 12S caravan wiring system type opf thing would be useful in PC. (In this over protected day and age there would have to be a disclaimer '12v electric can be dangerous etc).

It never ceases to amaze me though that caravans are considered complicated. I don't know much about the method of building the body but there is nothing else that requires a specialist knowledge. There are loads of users of this forum who know the workings of the cascade water heater in fine detail, or at least enough to daignose a malfunction.

Electrical cleaning spray will quite often get the microswitches operating again - most of the problems I have come across with these switches are down to dirty contacts - Worth trying before buying any new parts anyway.

Hi Just wanted to say thanx for the advice micro switch has been replaced and we now have running hot water in bathroom.

Thanx again
as Haydn says next time try a squirt of wd40 as they some times stick or if it gets too regular change the system to a pressure type it dont cost that much compaired to replaceing micro switches
