Elddis Avante Battery Charger

Having owned our 2006 Avante for two days my ignorance is coming to the surface already.

Preparing to go away on Monday for two nights, we thought we would plug into the mains to chill the fridge.

Standing inside the Avante I became aware of a motor running under the nearside seating. The noise runs for a few seconds and stops, 20 seconds later it runs again and straight off. This is a continuous on/off operation. Looking under the seat cushion, I saw that the noise was coming from the charger. It is a brand new battery so I would not expect much charging to be needed.

Is this a noise that you would expect to hear, it has the potential to drive me round the bend.

Kind regards.

Norman.

Hi Norman

I'm not familier with your caravan but even brand new batteries need a good charge and also some chargers can be set to give a heavy (equalisation) initial charge, and it can last up to 6 hours. Following this it drops to float mode, has a low charge rate and so the charger produces less internal heat hence the fan stops.

Thinking laterally. Its not the water pump cycling is it?
