Elddis, own repairs

just out of interest how many elldis owners have done repairs to their caravans within the warranty period themselves, I didnt have an option I bought my caravan privately at 6 months old now 2 years old, Compass Xplore
Ill start it off.
1/folding table adjacent to sink..screws fell out
2/side cover for fridge and sink screws unwound themselves (its a miraclel)
3/ bathroom light " fell out"
4/ brakes shoes have mirculously worn down, picked up on second service by approved workshop)
5/ front "A" frame cover has numerous cracks on it ( have I said its only two years old)
6/ touching front windows, I even have a letter from Elddis saying this is not a safety problem, however do a google and see how many windows have broken up etc

saying that its a great layout and what we were after, do we get a spare tool box with it?

Unless the Elddis warranty is transferable,and had been transferred to you, then it would not be effective anyway on a second owner purchase.

Warranty was transfered £30. £350 for the service, plastics and light fittings apparently are not included in the warranty, brakes, service agent wanted me to pay for new shoes.

It is surprising what is NOT covered, and the length of time some items ARE covered for.
Too many people think that the 3, 5 or 10 year warranty applies to everything,,,it does not, and some items are very short time indeed.
Consumables, which brake shoes would be classed as, are not covered. However a certain life expectancy can be expected, and if there was an underlying cause for the rapid wear on brakes, such as badly adjusted brakes or incorrectly assembled braking system, I would expect the dealer to remedy without cost to the owner.
Of course, anyone else finding the problem, other than the dealer, and they would require the cost to be met.

£350 is a very expensive service cost in anyones book, even allowing the cost of brake shoes in that costing.

It didnt include the cost of the brakes shoes I was sent home as the agent didnt carry them in stock with an advisory to have then replaced asap (I have posted another thread re the replacement) the comment from them was "we have never seen this before we dont know what caused it" it was only one of the two shoes on that side ,I replaced both sides the unaffected side didnt even have any dust in the drum and the backing plate etc was still shiney
its not as if I havent any experience on trailers etc up until 5 years ago I was a motorcyle mechanic, working on obviously motorcycles, quads and agricultural trailers , tractors as well as being an mot examiner the brakes had either been fitted wrongly, the drums hadnt been machined properly or , the most likely .a foreign object between the shoes and the drum, but on its second service how do you prove that ,there was nothing to show confirming any of the three scenarios,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, that I know of( thats my signature kicking in here)
Anyway that is only one of my minor problems

The touching front window is interesting. We have a 2009 Coachman and noticed almost from new that there were marks inside the middle front window. At first service showed dealer and suggested that plastic was so thin that the two parts were flexing and touching. He agreed and replaced window under warranty. The windows are distributed by one company who cover the warranty but their terms are strict- some might say impossible. Suggest you try them.

Hi, sounds familiar. We have a 2008 Elddis, bought new and have had close to 30 faults last 2 years.
Some similar to yours, but many worse !!!
Keep an eye on screws coming loose, sure they have just worked loose, or are the ends broken off?
Also check L brackets, they attach furniture to side walls. Remove plastic covers, this will let you see
if the metal brackets are broken or not.
What model is it ?
Tool box, as far as I know is a must..... But not included !!!!!!! LOL

Its a Xplore 495, the screws have just worked loose, now you`ve got me worried Ill check the L brackets, Im just back from a long weekend with it and see the sink waste pipe is being damaged by the sliding drawer in the adjacent cupboard, How big a toolbox?
