New to owning a caravan and just wondering why my 12v electrics are so dim,
Had a new battery and it was on 12 even with mains plugged in but quickly dropped to 7.3
So i left of for a little while and it charged back up a little then I had the same problem once turned back on. Any suggestions are appreciated cheers

Hi Harvey and welcome.

Seems you have no charging, perhaps it is not turned on. Fused, faulty.

Do you have other mains items operating.

Or perhaps your van does not have a supply and you are expecting too much from the battery.

Three things,
How old is the battery as they don't last forever
Are the 230v sockets live when you are connected to EHU, i
Are you sure the charger is working? Any voltmeter should show 13+ volts when connected to EHU.

The state of charge of a battery can only be estimated from its terminal voltage. At 12V its well below the minimum charge so I'm not surprised your 12V lighting is dim.

It does seem as though your caravan battery charger may not be working, so I echo the points above.

When charging the battery voltage should be 13.6 to 13.8V. It will take several hours to fully recharge such a flat battery.

If the battery has been this flat for too long, it may be damaged beyond recovery.

However it might recover a bit if you can use a multistage charger (Aldi and Lidl sometimes have smart chargers at about £13 to £15)
