I have heard / read of this service problem on the forum, but if you buy from Tanya, is it not thier service that matters as it is them that you have bought from.
I am tempted with the Elecsol as I gather it is lighter.

Had the Elecsol 110ah for 6 years now and this summer it still moved the van into a steep pitch that required lots of positioning. I take it out whenever we are not using the van and connecta CTEK multiphase charger which keeps it charged and 'on float'. I had a car babttery from Tanya and the service was great and price very good. But when I read the warranty I just hoped that I never had to claim as it seemed to have lots of exclusions and conditions. But then again so did some of the other suppliers. I felt if I did have problems then the good old SOGA would be needed.
I'd be interested to hear if others have had battery problems within the warranty period and have received good service from their supplier. Always good to hear of good suppliers that fix things when they go wrong.

I bought an Elecsol from a local dealer who sold out to Discovery who then closed the centre down (classic discovery move it seems).
When the battery failed I tried to get some help from Elecsol direct and they were the most unhelpful, obstructive people to deal with.
Its all very well to offer a 5 year warranty but if the company are not ready to honour it without a fight its not a lot of good.
Don't buy an Elecsol because of the warranty, its not worth it.

Regarding the warranty side of things I am pretty stuck with it if Tayna go bust but have just had 5 days off hookup with a solar panel in mainly pretty dull conditions and it was still OK,used everything pretty much as usual so quite happy there motor mover worked fine this morning. It is definately 5kg lighter and also smaller at the top so I can disconnect the spring connectors without pulling battery out.Am keeping my fingers crossed that it is a good one although it was only a few pound more than a normal battery locally.

I purchased an Elecsol in 2001 and used it on an Abbey with the new motor mover we had just bought. The Abbey had a 3 way switch that allowed power from battery, car, or built in charger. As all lights were 12 volt I switched to battery and ran off battery, even when connected to mains, until meter showed red and then switched to charger to recharge battery. The battery failed in just under 2 years. Initially I contacted Elecsol direct in view of their 5 year warranty. Despite sending copies of receipts I got nowhere and found them very unhelpful. I finally visited the dealer where I bought the battery, a considerable distance from home and they replaced the battery immediately. Since then I have used the replacement Elecsol on 3 caravans with motor movers and it is still working. However I ensure that it is always connected to charge when in use so that it does not run down. This now happens automatically in my current Bailey unlike the Abbeys where I had to select charge. Whether discharging and recharging was the reason for the first failure I don't know, but I would recommend that anyone buying one does so through a reputable dealer that will honour the guarantee in view of my problems when try to claim under the guaratntee direct.

Is that good? I can still do that with an 8-year old 72Ah Vauxhall car battery - but like your Elecsol, it's looked after by a CTEK charger not the on-board power supply.
