Yes I use mine all the time.

Last year we went out and bought another one, one for in the awning for storing all the BQ meats, and the other in the car for keeping drinks cold along with snacks for the beach.

My fridge is also small, hence the reason we bought the first one.

Yep use one all the time in the awning. Got it because, as you said there is not enough room in the fridge for everything. Ours stays on a small table in the awning and we keep the usual beer, wine, pop, meat and salad in it. It had no problems keeping a low temperature in France last year.

I would recommend one.

We keep ours in the car boot where I've fitted a socket for it. I've included a power saver device which prevent the car battery from being flattened.

It means we can take additional chilled food with us during towing as well as being very useful on summer days out and shopping trips at home.

If necessary I can transfer it to the porch and connect directly onto the caravan battery with some crocodile clips.

We have a Campinggaz coolbox. One of ouy better investments. We also have an electric only Cool Fun fridge which is quite large. Figured as we very seldom go on sites without electric, why pay the extra for one with gas or 12V connection.

Ours is a WEACO COMBICOOL and can run off mains, 12v or gas.

It also comes in handy at home when we have family parties as a beer store!

Hi

Our Scout Group decided to get an Electrolux multi-fuel one, which is used on camps - with today's Heath & Safety and food hygiene regs, it is a real boon.

I was so impressed that I got one for my self. I use it on camps, and in caravan, but also at home where it sits quietly in the utility keeping the extra large bottles of milk and boxes of fruit juices from the weekly shop chilled and ready for use.

There are of course other makes of absorption cool-boxes which are equally effective. The other type which only uses 12V ( or mains through an adaptor) are useful but nowhere near as effective.

The early thermo-electric boxes were fitted with a thermostat to limit the cooling, but most of the later ones seem not to be. This can lead to serious over-cooling if you for get to switch it off at night - I've destroyed more than one lot of salad veg this way and also managed to freeze and split Coke cans and some low alcohol beer (serves me right for trying the stuff)

Has anyone a current model thermo-electic box which does have a thermostat ? The retails seem fairly ignorant about this feature and since many boxes are from the Far East the instructions are often no very helpful
