No cons, although some of them can be very noisy.

We have also had to buy an extension cable to plug into the 12v socket in the caravan, and we then hang the cable out of the window as we keep the cooler in the awning. This obviously depends on where your 12v socket is, and if it is on the awning side.

The pros are cold beers!!!!!!

We have got a campingaz 24 litre one bought from Go Outdoors. It is very quiet and we can get a good couple of days worth of food in it (eg BBQ meat, salad etc). We use ours for the big and bulky items that do not fit in the fridge very well.

Hope this helps

We tend to use ours when we go abroad, mainly to house the extra drinks required to cope with the hotter weather. Used in Italy again this year in 34 degrees and still produced acceptable cooling. Ours is a Lidl cheapy but has mains and 12v power options built in. Some require a separate transformer for mains operation. Generally just stands outside the 'van under the sunshade and plugged into the external socket.

I have a three way powered type. Its heavier than the peltier effect types , but more efficient.

It sits quietly in the awning or kitchen tent running on gas.

A also use it home, to keep excess milk, fruit juices and beers cool and ready at a moments notice running on mains.

And when we do large family picnics or travelling to site, it sits in the back of the MPV, running on 12V dc.

We find it really useful

Like above we also use a Halfords box in the awning, they are actually Waeco that you can see advertised in the mags. Bought the adaptor to run on mains (or in the car with the 12v included), the only slight noise is the whirring of the fan. Strikes me as a cheap way of providing axtra cool storage, but beware 'cool as a cucumber' does not apply becasue it's too cold and the cucmber becomes mush!
