Electric generator safety

I have purchased a new Honda EU10i 230v ac generator which is a superbly engineered unit - albeit at a price. However the output is via a UK 13amp unprotected socket. How can it be safe to use in the rain? Surely it should have the standard, blue socket as provided on caravan sites, anything less in the present wet weather conditions must be considered unsafe and cannot possibly meet current safety legislation. Honda's full page ad. shows the larger model EU20i in which this socket is clearly shown. Jim.

Hi jim, that generator should have a cut out for both the 12 volt and 240 volt output. To make it more safe for yourself you could use one of the extension sockets that have a surge protector built into it. The ones you use in the home are good. There are covers you can buy to cover the unit up if used outside.
