Hi everybody.

What is the likelyhood that i'll need an electric hook up cable longer than the 10m one supplied with my van? Is it worh purchasing a longer cable or do sites tend to hire these out if a longer one is needed?

Sites ought to be designed so that a 25 metre cable will be long enought. A 10 metre cable will often be adequate but offen it will not be.

Chipie,

This is a hard question to call, some sites supply six pitches from the same bollard, so if you are on the outer pitches 25m will be needed. However most sites supply four pitches, but depending on pitch size/layout this can still be a problem for a 10m cable.

I personally would buy a 25m cable, but as my van was already supplied with this lenght, I don't have this concern to worry about, also what would happen if the site had already leased their own supply out?

best regards, Martin

Chipie,

I carry 2, 1 at 25 metres & 1 at 12.5 metres, that way I can cover most eventualities.

Usage, I'd guess that I use the shorter one about twice as much as the longer one.

My advice would be to get a "standard" 25 metre one as well as the 10 metre one you already have.

If you are going abroad you will need at least a 25m cable, and as others have advised, another shorter cable would be advisable.

I have cut a 25mtr cable into 2 pieces 1 x 10mtr & 15mtr. This with a 25mtr length covers all eventualities.

This gives me the advantage of using the correct length of cable at all times.

On the odd occasion I have had to add a short length to the 25mtr cable.

I was told that if you use a 25mtr cable, make sure that you unwind the whole length of cable to prevent the cable overheating
