Take a look at the electrical trips (MCB) fitted to your caravan power supply - you'll probably find that the sockets are protected by a 10 amp trip.

Calculating the amps used by a mains powered appliance is simply amps = watts / volts which in your case is (1200 / 230) or 5.2 amps - so that shouldn't be an issue - as long as the site allows you to use more than this amount of power.

Taking our Eriba as an example - all of the mains wiring and electrical systems are rated to a minimum of 16 amps - and the sockets and lighting are individually protected with MCB (at a lower amp rating)

Note that some sites (notably French municipal sites) are limited to 6 amps per hook up - and you then need to add up the power taken by the fridge (usually 1/2 amp) and any other appliance that is working before you start something power hungry. In this case, 5.2 amps plus 0.5 amps is very close to the 6 amp limit - so you may trip the pole MCB on a French site.

Many thanks. I have a T@B -this is wired with a 10amp double miniature circuit breaker located in the wardrobe so should be okay.
