Not got my van yet, another couple of weeks to wait. Meantime I'm reading up on accesories, particularly electrical.
My wife wants a halogen oven. These are 1300wattts. I've read that you should use low wattage kettles and microwaves to
avoid overloads, so how can you use a 1300watt oven?????

1300w is about 6amps caravan circuits are usually 10 amps
useful formula is watts divided by volts = amps i think?.

Make sure that's the input power, not the output.
A 700watt micro wave, can consume 1200watts.
So you need to allow 1200w.
current = Power/Volts

when i use a kettle , i just switch every thing else off , its only for a few minits , same with toaster or microwave

The OP is asking about a Halogen oven (basically a a cooking pot with a heat element in the lid. This is very different to a Microwave.
Halogen ovens use what is basically a resitive element, so there is no difference between input and output power.

But does the OP.
The oven question was effectively answered in post 2.
As he mentions looking into appliances, not just the oven.

Hi Red Mick Just one thing that comes to mind. I use one of these at home and found that the worktop under it gets very hot when its on for a while, so watch where you put it , or do as i do put it on a thick chopping board.

I can get a full breakfast for two in one of these

They are very good for cooking all sorts of things & they are lightweight ........

The wiring inside the caravan may be protected at 10A but it does not follow that the incoming supply is rated as high as that.

UK sites are often protected at 10A even though a 16A BS4343 connection is being used, and many are at 16A as well. However on the continent even though 10A Schuko or 16A BS4343 connectors are used the supply is more often than not limited at 6A or even on some sites as low as 3A.
