hi

another day another thing needs fixing,

after todays exiting discovery of things working from electricity, Iain decided to try the above mentioned fridge on the 240.

All was well,,it lit the switch up and we thought it was working, however after 4 or 5 hours, the fridge wasnt cooling.

iain removed fridge and multimetered the switch and feed, and all was fine with them.

he even metered the 240 heating element and that was fine though not heating.

anything else we can check.

and do any of you tech guys know if we can get this item replaced

item has a metal rod which inserts into a funnel on back of fridge and reads

240 v 125w 139614 295 2174-03/4 (puc)@

thanx

hello----i have just repaired my fridge (4271) as the heating element was u/s. Make sure mains power is disconnected and remove the fridge. You will see that both heating elements (12v & 240v) disappear into a cylinder shaped insulation unit. If you squeeze the cylinder it will release the catch overlap, if it dosen't open use a wood chisel and carefully prise the lip back and open it up just enough to remove some of the insulation covering the elements. (use gloves for this) Lift out the element-- it sits a pocket and comes out easy. Refitting is reverse although you might need a pair of pointed-nose pliers to help close up the lap-catch

Leisureshopdirect.com have the element you require =

bob

im sure its the element, and i scanned for new ones last night,

on ebay second jand 48.99

from the place you say, brand new and under 30,00

what a difference eh, Ebay isnt always cheaper, although a lot of peeps will automatically think it is

bob thanx for your input, the fridge worked last year on the gas, but im now going to go and run it for an hour on gas, just to make sure

bob, theres also a 12 volt switch on the fridge and its not lighting, i was wondering if this only lights when the cars clipped on and both electric sockets hooked up

thanx

i think you are right there ian---connect to your car and try it out before you box everything up----make sure the light goes on AND the element heats up
