In my ABI Monza circa 1977/78 I have an old electrolux gas fridge which has no model number on, but its white and grey with the controls underneath the fridge cabinet, consisting of a numbered dial and a push button. Someone who has one tells me just turn the gas on, wait a few seconds then press ignitor button. I havent done this yet, because I can see no way of telling how its lit having done this. There isnt a viewing window. Also as far as I can tell, the fridge only runs on gas. Has anyone got one? Can you help?

Hi, I know you posted lastyear, & had no replies.

I have one of these fridges which has just stopped working so was looking for advice.

To light it you turn the knob fully ACW, kneel down with your head on the floor! so you can see under the fridge to the burner at the rear LHS, push & hold in the knob (to override the auto cut out), and then keep pressing the igniter button until it lights. You should hear it "click" each time, & see the spark in the burner compartment. Once it lights release the knob.

If anyone knows if or where I can get mine mended, please post.

I was advised years ago that all that you could try was to turn the unit upsidedown & shake it, nothing else was possible??

Hi Folks,

It sounds like you may have an Electrolux RM122. Bottled gas and 12 volt operation.

I have one for sale complete with instruction and maintenance manual and almost new electronic re-ignitor fitted.

If you send me your email address I can photocopy the operation sheets (2) for you. As for the fridge its self I can only sell locally because of weight.

regards Pop.

A fridge of that age may need to be serviced - The burner usually consists of a ceramic tube with a stainless steel gauze on the top. Even though it is stailess, over time it can corrode because of the heat and become ineffective.

Serviceing involves removing the appliance and working on the gas system, This must be done by a competent person working to the Gas safety regulations.
