Elsan Organic Toilet

Hello,

I have been using the Elsan Organic Toilet for the last few months or so, and really like the idea that the same fluid can be used in the flush and in the tank. It also does a good job and with all the environment gains I will continue to use it if I can solve my current problem. Just recently we have started to get "purple lumps" in the flush. I have emptied the flush and run a hose through it to clear it and also pumped it dry a few times with clear water. I then re filled and this weekend we had the same problem. Looking at other listings, but for other products it is mentioned that mould can grow, so next step is to use the Milton sterilising fluid I guess. Has anyone else had this issue, or got any other ideas? Thanks.

Hi David. You appear to have limescale and a touch of mould! Milton won't clear it as I found out. You'll need to use a top tank flush and then drain the tank, not flush it. I use Thetford's flush which does the trick. I have also found that Elsan Organic doesn't work very well in warm temperatures when in the South of France this year. The toilet got quite smelly and it didn't break things up quite as well as the "normal" stuff. Hope this helps!
