Eriba BIP charging update.

Hi all, season almost coming to an end (1 or 2 trips pending.) It's become apparent that our original charging system in the BIP electronics unit are not working. I've done some research and so far reached the conclusion that old MCB's need updating to RCBO's and the old charging unit needs updating to a standalone 3 stage charging unit.
Is there anyone on site who has had experience in doing this modification on the Eriba BIP unit. Or can someone recommend an Engineer who can assist.

First thing is that you don't need to change the present setup as regards circuit breakers.
You should have an RCBO as the incoming main breaker, with a test button on it.
The circuits after that are protected with MCB's and if yours are working there is no need to change them.

As for the charger unit, talk to Paul at Apuljack Engineering.
He will know what can and cannot be done with your present unit, and can usually repair any faults at a better price than buying in new.

Thanks for the advice Damian.

First post was not 100% clear. The existing unit unfortunately doesn't have an RCBO as the main breaker 😱hmy: this needs replacing ! So much safer. 😉 Others after that are MCB's yes; but very dated.

I'll get in touch with Paul.

Update:
So far so good, old MCB's replaced. Main incomer replaced with 16Amp RCBO, Other replaced with 6Amp MCB. No issues so far. :silly: Paul has kindly been in touch; need to send photo's of the unit to him for further info on what can be done.

Looking positive so far!
