Probably a daft question really, but i've not used a Euro pitch before

Popping away next week and have a Euro pitch booked. I realise that i'll get a nice concrete hardstanding (no leveling issues here!), but what about the awning?

Will i get a gravel area to put it on and if so, how am i supposed to bash tent pegs into gravel and expect the awning to stay there!

Or have i missed something

Will also be nice not having to fill my Aquaroll from a tap 200 metres away and empty the wastehog twice a day!

I'm guessing that by "euro pitch" you're talking about a fully serviced pitch with electric, water and waste connection?
If so then not all are concrete, some are hardstanding but comprise of gravel with a hardcore substrate. If gravel with hardcore such as in Caravan Club sites then rock pegs or similar are needed for the awning. I've also been on a couple of sites with a slightly different set up - the actual caravan pitch was concrete but the awning area was like a concrete honeycomb, thats the best way I can think of describing it. You could knock your awning pegs into the ground but you might need to move them a little to one side. Other sites had two lines of concrete slabs to park your caravan on, the rest of the pitch grass.
What site are you off to? Oh, and not all concrete pitches are level, not the first time I've had to stick a bit of wood below one wheel to level up on hardstanding.

I'm off to Haven in Cleethorpes (Thorpe park), courtesy of the last Sun offer (plus extra for the Euro pitch)

It's fully serviced...Using Google maps (from above), it looks like concrete / gravel - but who knows!

edit....just looked at their website - grass awning space after all
Pitches
  • Tent Base on grass
  • Electric Grass Pitch with electric connection
  • Euro Hard standing pitch with turrets for electricity, water, non-chemical waste & TV, plus hard standing for a car and grass awning space
  • Pup tents accepted
  • All pitches have a grass awning and car parking space
  • Electric and Euro pitches offer a 16 amp connection

Been to Haven site and used their fully serviced pitches in the past ( not the same one as you are going to though) Sounds the same set up though. You just need to try and pitch your van as close to the edge of the concrete as you can to make pegging the awning where it is next to the caravan as easy as possible.
Are you using an aquaroll with the side filler for your fresh water supply? If so, if the water connection on the turret that the site mentions is the same as the one I visited you will need a straight connection for you water hose. Haven is the only place I have had to use that connection ( bought it on site). I'll have a trawl through the internet to see if I can find the correct name for it.

Edit: had a look at the hozelock website, the correct name for the connector is " a double male connector"

we were at this site earlier in the year and the pitches are really generous. the site itself is well run and clean and the entertainment for four Grandkids was excellent.
If you've got kids they'le love the small zoo/monkeys/parrots place (can't remember the name of it) just along the seafront from Haven.
Have a great time!
LADA.
