European Breakdown & Travel insurance for 2 weeks

Hi, I'm off to France for 2 weeks in July

. My van is 7.1m long and my UK breakdown is only covered for up to 7m (I rely on being able to bribe the breakdown chap if required). I want to get a top up Breakdownn insurance for a fortnight with Travel Insurance. I've seen Alan Rogers do a combo travel & breakdown package for about £100 for Caravan (up to 8m) + 2 Adults + 2 Kids.

I would really apreciate any feedback for better suggestions?

Hi! I've just been checking out motoring/personal cover for France and finished up with Camping & Caravanning Club. We're normally with the RAC for motoring, but apparently they don't have long enough recovery trucks abroad to cope with caravans over 7m long. They have (or was it had?) an arrangement with the Camping & Caravanning Club to borrow their trucks if needed, but only if you subscribe to the RAC Arrival option - which we can't because we pay for our cover with Tesco Rewards. I think I've got all that right, but forgive any confusion. I dread insurance time, all that comparing and small print.
IMHO both Camping & Caravanning Club and The Caravan Club should be the most reliable when it comes to insurance. They'd look pretty daft letting you down on their specialist subject, and if you're taking the outfit abroad, you want to be sure you'll have help just a phone call away.
As an aside to your query, I'm now wondering whether our caravan, at 7.1m, is actually covered by the RAC in this country, or whether I'm just *hoping* it is. Hmm, must check that out tomorrow.

Renewed mine today. CC Red Pennant Annual fee £161 for multi-trips up to 30 days abroad, Sorento towing a Bailey Senator Louisiana. Breakdown and personal liability only as we have seperate travel insurance.

The length of your caravan cannot exceed 7 metres if it is a UK built caravan, however the shipping length can be longer and legal.

We have an 8 metre caravan and get our Breakdown from the German Club ADAC which is a bargain for price and cover which is excellent ,tried it in Germany in April. 98.90 Euro's for Partner Plus (2 people driving or passenger in any car.) or Single Person with just the Plus Cover is 79.50 Euro's. Covers you in all of Europe including the UK all year. We get out travel insurance free under our Lloyds Bank Account. For details go to my website.
