Hi all,

I have 2009 Bailey Ranger GT60 540/6, but unfortunately it does not have an external eletrical socket fitted. Is it possible to buy an all weather socket and then attched it to a base. Then screw this onto the chassis using the pre existing holes in the ALKO frame underneath of the caravan. Then route the cables in to the front gang inside the van using existing holes, rather than drilling a fresh one to get the wires through??? Does this make sense??? Has anybody done this before???

pop in to b & q and buy an ip66 rated socket. Mount under the van or in a storage locker.

I fitted one under my new charisma which handily has a socket in the cupboard under the oven. I ran the three core 20 amp cable to plug, then under the fridge and out through a hole i drilled in the floor. The cable entry into the socket should be towards the rear of the van to reduce the risk of water ingress when towing.

The socket is also shielded with a splash guard from some aluminium sheet to further reduce the risk of water ingress when towing.
