What size is the 'fixed bed-proper mattress' you mentioned? We are looking for two for the 2'2" wide beds - it looks as if we are going to settle for ( or on ) foam.
Ours is a standard double - but a proper mattress, not foam. You can get specially made mattresses from http://www.cockettsbeds.co.uk/index.php?page=bespoke - who say they can manufacture for narrow and shorter caravan beds - but don't know how much the cost would be. There's also a bespoke mattress company in Whitby, that we know make a good product - our friends have a mattress from them - but again probably expensive. I think the narrowest standard 'bunk' mattress you can buy is 2'6" - but good-hunting (and a good night's sleep when you find something!
Val A. Thank you very much for that. I will follow those leads and then, as they say, sleep on it. ( Oddly a Google search also threw up several mattress leads in Whitby, Ontario. But then Whitby IS famous for good kippers ! )
