Hi, We are already trying to plan our main summer holiday for next year. Can anyone recommend a family site (we have two children aged 8&11). We would like a site with an indoor swimming pool & family entertainment in the evening. Also we enjoy exploring which ever area we are staying at.

Hi

Have a look at Unity in Brean, Somerset.

It has daytime childrens fun clubs and evening family entertainment, an indoor pool, cycle hire, pedal buggy's, horse riding etc and a large funfair next door which can be accessed via an underpass to prevent children straying into roadways. It has everything you need to keep children occupied whatever the weather, pitches are adequate and well drained now that a new drainage system is installed and the site is easy to get to, ten minutes from the M5.

Brean itself is not much to write home about but there are some interesting places to visit in Somerset.

The amenity blocks are heated and clean and for a very large commercial holiday site it is very well run. The site offers bargain breaks with discounts and a loyalty card.

I have no connection with the site but we stay there now and again.

The best site we have found for all round family enjoyment is Beverley Park in Paignton. Even if it is wet for the holiday there is always something there for the children. There are both indoor and outdoor pools, large variety hall with first class evening shows designed for the children until 9:00pm and then more for the adults but by no way close to the mark comedy - all good clean entertainment. There are also good cafes/restaurants on site. Children are kept occupied throughout the day/evening. The toilet/shower facilities are aslo first class.

The site is very central for Torquay, Paignton, Brixham, Dartmouth, Totnes and Newton Abbott. Just passed Dartmouth is a beautiful stretch of beach at Blackpool Sands and slightly further on is Slapton Sands.

Now the down side - the site can be expensive during high season for a family. However with all the facilities on offer if the weather should be bad I would reckon it is good value for money.
