Andy ,

Can you help here please, cost and fitting time needed plus lead in time for new part. Error, the wheel spat is not externally screwed but partly held by trim at the bottom .

Helping my neighbour reverse his caravan into a very tight storage spot we accidentally touched the wheel arch plastic piece of the Abbey. It resulted in a scratch on the plastic 1.5" long and 2mm deep.

The bloke's dealer has quoted £250 for supplying and fitting the new wheel arch piece. They say 4 hours labour . Does this sound right? Looking at the Abbey and a number of other vans it looks like the plastic is only held on with six screws.

In all honesty it is such a minor ding I doubt he would lose any value at trade in. But we did it, just a shame he's such a pedantic old misery. Irrelevant perhaps but he had parked up two feet onto our pitch.

Cheers

Dustydog,

You can email me at aspacey@swiftleisure.co.uk

Andy hope Swift will be true to their word and help with back up if needed for my new Ace Firestar bought in October last year, which will be discontinued in 2010.

l have been monitering the Forum and you do seem to be on the ball with respect problem solving with Swift products.

Makes me think l made the right choice of caravan manufacturer.

Hi Nigel,

I can confirm that the decision to drop Abbey and Ace ranges will not affect the service or support you receive from us and neither will it affect your warranty or aftercare support.

Many Thanks

Andy

Hi Andy,

I have an 2008 ACE Jubilee Equerry and while away this weekend I noticed a small plastic rivet had come away from the shower door lower rail. This rivet holds the lower rail to the shower base. I have been in contact with Discover in Coppull and they think it may be difficult to obtain the part. Please can you advise as we are away in 2 weeks and will need to use the shower. If we use at present the hole will leak water onto the floor. Also the door is not suppoerted properly while in transit.

Regards

Andy

Hi Andy,

Unfortunately the caravan is back in storage and I will need to go after work to get a picture. Maybe if I can describe its location a bit better you may be able to help. The shower cubicle has the curved door design as per many Swift showers. The door has rollers on the top rail and is guided in a metal channel at the bottom. This bottom channel is held in place by a plastic rivet/plug at each end which secures the channel to the shower base moulding. There also seems to be some form of sealent between the guide and the shower base. It is one of these pins/rivets/plug which has come adrift and hence one end of the door guide is now loose and there is subsequently a hole in our shower base.

Please let me know idf this is OK.

Andy

ps thanks for the quick response.

Hi Andy,

I had the same occur on my old Fleetwood. All you need to do is clean away the silicon , put a small bead of new silicon about 2" long and reposition rail. Add a small piece of silicon to hole and pop the rivit/plug back to locate and effect a seal. Simple!

Best Regards

Jim

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the info. Andy from Swift has hopefully sorted me out with the correct fastener so I hope to get the problem sorted before our next outing.

I wish I'd bought a swift.

Andy re: Jubilee Equerry

Whilst I've not had any problems with my van, I don't understand why a dealer (mine coincidentally, hence the worry) would say it may be difficult to obtain the part. or did you mean 'by a certain date'.

I hope Kelly Watts and her team at Bailey are watching this thread. 10 out of 10 for Andy at Swift.

As promised he sent me an e-mail yesterday morning with a detailed response to my enquiry.

I love my Bailey but with service like this should I have gone for the Swift?

Cheers

Hi Ian,

The dealer actually called me today to say he has sussed which part I needed. I think it was more a case of not knowing exactly which part I was talking about straight away. Hence my contact with Andy at Swift as I needed the part before my next trip away.

Please see my follow up further down the topic.

Cheers

I just thought I should post the following:-

Andy (Swiftgroup) many thanks for sourcing and despatching the part I required with 24 hours of my initial query. This sourt of service deserves recognition and hopefully many of the readers on here will read this. As some may remember I have been highly critical of Swift in the past but credit where credit is due this was fantastic service.

Once again many thanks

Andy

I am delighted to hear of good service by Swift Group, as I would be to hear of anybody providing good service. Sue and I also have a Bailey however and I can categorically claim that Kelly and Bailey have provided us with excellent service on the three occasions we have contacted them.

Well done all round I think.

Cheers

Hi Mike

As you know I have been a Bailey man for years.

My point was that Swift's Andy has taken a major step forward, and gone out of his way to put his money where his mouth is.

I want to see Kelly at Bailey emulate Andy, that's all.

Cheers
