Hi again Jo-anne

Carole and myself went to the Lawns caravan show in Hull yesterday and had a look round various (every!:0 ) caravans including the new Eldiss/Compass 624 with twin axles fixed n/s bed and end washroom. It was priced at £14,895 plus £495 delivery charge on the road inc. vat.

The lounge area is pleasant and a similar layout to the Abbey with a microwave above the oven, three burner gas hob, wheras the Abbey is four burner with one ring being electric. Carole noticed thet the sink/ worktop area might be slightly lower in the Compass with a built in drainer and chinchilla glass covers over the sink and cooker. The amount of storage was similar in both caravans with the 'sideboard' opposite the sink.

I had the impression that the fixed bed in the Explorer group product was very slightly wider than in the Swift group caravan.

In the Swift/Abbey the wardrobe was opposite and in front of the fixed bed area and was bigger than the Explorer group wardrobe, and also incorporating shelves.Carole thinks that a major drawback with the Eldiss/Compass is the fact that the wardrobe is situated inside the end washroom and could lead to slightly damp clothing if the shower was in regular use, through condensation.

I pressed the wrong button and sent the above before it was done, sorry.

In the washroom of the Eldiss/compass there is a round folly lined 'beam me up, Scotty' shower cubicle as you go in, with the wash basin and the toilet on the back wall of the caravan, but both Carole and myself felt that the washroom was a bit cramped with the wardobe in there as well. There was a bit of a squeeze to enter the washroom as well for anybody not of athletic proportions. The only mirror in the washroom was stuck over the wash basin at roof level and is useless to anybody less than six feet tall. Carole is less than five feet tall even with her shoes on and prefers the three quarter length mirror in the Swift/Abbey. In the 620 there is another mirror opposite the bed, with a 240v socket as well.

Overall we still prefered the Abbey 620 and with the extras that you get with the Cardinal/ vogue we think that it's better value for money in that price range. Please let us know what you think when you see these caravans for yourself.

Regards, Carole & Steve.

hi steve and cal, please dont kill me, lol. all the promoting the 620 i have done and what do i go and do?.

i went to look at a sterling elite onyx, silver sides, fixed bed, side washroom fell in love with it a ordered one. i deceided on another single axel because we use cc site facilities so we ordered the awning we wanted and two bedroom annex's for the extra space.

i still love the 620 layout and you cant go wrong with the special editions so maybe that is the van for you.

good luck and keep posted.

Hi Jo-anne

Just a question on your post as fairly new to caravaning.

You say you bought a single axle due to using cc facilities.

Do cc have limitations on twins and if so what are they, not something i have heard of before.

Ta in advance for any help

Regards

Sean

Hi Jo-anne

We're glad to hear that you ordered your new caravan and are sure that you'll enjoy it very much. You have to go with what commonsense tells you in the end, because when you've taken delivery its no good having niggling doubts then. You have made an excellent choice so there's no point in having a shower room that you will hardly use. The CC facilities are reknowned for their cleanliness, and , lets face it, when you use the sites you are paying for those facilities anyway.

We will make a final decision next week before we go to order our caravan, but so far it looks like the 620 for us.

Best of luck with the new caravan and let us know how you get on with it.

Hi blu

I think that Jo-anne means that her family will use the cc showers and possibly toilets. She considered buying a twin axle caravan because there is an end washroom / fixed bed layout, but has reconsidered because they mainly use on site facilities.
