having read the threads on " Our Web-site" about trouble brewing between the English and the Welsh in the Hereford area ( as usual ) I am beginning to be slightly apprehensive. On my list of holiday ideas I have marked The Brecon Beacons later in the year.I do require confirmation that our travels in this part of the world will be completely safe.We cannot afford to carry extra weight in " arrow proofing " our caravan, and have no wish to wear camoflage combat clothing.Have the foreign office been informed of these hostilities? and are they giving advice on their web site for us to follow?

Don't forget that I am also English although I now have Scottish leanings being married a wild Scotsman :0))

Maureen, if you wish to avoid the "slings and arrows of discontented" Lord B when you visit Brecon Beacons, may I suggest a stay at Bishop's Meadow (google Bishop's Meadow), on the outskirts of the lovely town itself?

Both very good sites, Maureen. I only mentioned Bishop's Meadow as we use it every March for the Royale Club's rally. Beware school holiday times, though. It gets rather full.

Maureen thank God someone appears to be on my side against the evil Lord B. Although you are English by birth you have annoyed that man so much by marrying a Scots man. After all the Scottish folk are in the most descendants of the Celtic race similar to the Welsh. Don't take his word as he speaks with forked tongue. He will set his dogs on you and say it was unintentional. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED (Mr. Mod - sorry for the use of capital letters but I felt I must stress the point to Maureen).

Maureen Pencelli is the better site if you don't have dogs. I think Brynich is featureless, like a big field with as many caravans crammed in as possible.

Pencelli has the canal adjoining it which makes for great walking, all on the level. I used to have a cruiser on this canal before I took up caravanning.

It became very expensive considering the season was only from March to about October. The cruising and mooring licence cost around

Danny you pay to come into Wales as we are selective in the company we keep. The reason why you can get back to England free is so that any undesirable who has filtrated into our fine country can be sent packing without the fee.

As far as the rain is concerned where would Birmingham and the Midlands (incl. Hereford) be without our water - the come into our country, flood the districts and then take the water and think they own it.

South west Wales is often very beautiful and with little rain. Every time I have ventured west to Tenby/Saundersfoot it has always been graet sunny weather, even if it is raining in Bridgend.

Danny I must pull you to task on a few of your postings:

Firstly I believe that the bridge was constructed by a British consortium but then both bridges were sold by our ever caring government to a French company. The initial idea was to construct a barrage across the Severn with tidal turbines to produce energy and a road over. Initially the cost was far greater but the results would have been green energy for south Wales and the west of England. The so called "friends of the Earth" objected to this on the fact that we would loose the Severn bore, sewage from Gloucester would polute the water and there would be a loss of wild life from Slimbridge. So what - is a tidal wave twice a year more important than green energy - Gloucester built its own sewage treatment works as the second bridge was about to be constructed - nature would correct it self at Slimbridge. The barrage would have replaced a coal fired power station at Aberthaw and a neuclear power station at Hinkley Point. Admittedly there would have been a loss of employment at the two power stations and the remaining deep pit at Hirwaun in south Wales. Again in this day and age should a man have to go burrowing underground for fuel.

Secondly the advert for men working underground to excavate noodles for Pot Noodles is an insult to the good name of any coal miner whatever part of the country he is from. In the days of the deep mines, men worked very hard in appalling conditions to get the coal and many suffered with their health in doing so (including my late father-in-law). That advert should be pulled as it is making a mockery of these hard working miners. The Welsh as a nation can take a joke even when it is about them selves but I think this is going too far.

Danny I must ask you one question - are you by any chance related to or connected with Lord B. in any way as you both appear to be anti Welsh? - you wait our day will come and then you lot east of Offa's **** had better look out. Come the revolution man we will be there. We will band up with our Irish and Scottish cousins and overthrow the Anglo Saxons.

Colin.

Calm down! The Severn power options were thrown out as they hoped to harness all that free Welsh hot air ;-)

And stuff the Welsh if you keep forgetting the Cornish :)

And in Cornwall they are proud of their Clotted Cream mines and lost the true miners long before the coal faces closed down but at last they left us the Pastie legacy where all we have from the Welsh is them stealing the OGGY OGGY OGGY chant when they have the sweatest of singing voices ;-)

Colin me old Welsh mate,

I am in no way related to Lord B or connected, I would not know him if he/she came up and poked me in the eye.

As for being anti Welsh, well, not really, I just don't like being in shops on your fair land and the local's start talking in Welsh. How rude is that.

As for having a pop at your local industry, mining, no bad taste was intended, or was it intended as an insult.

If I have offended you please accept my appologies.......

It just seems lately on this forum I have entered into some topics of debate and have suffered a right roasting for airing my veiws, none only than from Lord B.

Well what more can I say it was only a bit of light hearted banter, on a plus side Bristol Rovers have just beaten Bristol City, so you never know our paths might cross when we invade Cardiff for the final !

Ta for now..........

Cris - I would apologise for overlooking our Cornish cousins as once that area of England was known as south Wales. As far as the legacy of Wales we are also noted for our laverbread, leeks, daffodils and Penclawdd cockles. Give me a break man if I was to highlight all the contributions from Wales and the Welsh (or Celtic cousins) I would be here for hours and I think Mr. Mod. would be so annoyed with such a long posting that he would delete it.

One minute we are accused of having continual rain and now we are being accused of having a lot of hot air, which I assume relates to hours of sunshine. The Cornish folk did spend many years mining for copper and as far as their clotted cream and pasties are concerned - what better treat is there than a pasty for lunch and clotted cream, home made jam and a home made scone for tea. Just pop over the border and wash it down with Devon cider. Mouthwatering stuff.

You will often hear OGGY OGGY OGGY reverberating amongst the hills. It has a blood curdling sound to it but really there is no need to fear. It's only the natives communicating to each other that they have located another sheep :O)

Lord B. as you have raised the subject of sheep, the contents I will take with the contempt it deserves, has your dear lady wife recently tried to purchase a ball of knitting wool made in the UK. Apart from wool manufactured in the north of Scotland all other wool is imported from abroad, mainly the middle east. Another fine British manufacturing industry gone to rack and ruin. What will be left being manufactured in this so called fine country of the UK? - Sod all.

Colin,

I have to agree with that.

Look what has happened to British manufacturing and engineering over the past decade or so.

Just look at the mess Airbus is in, what have the goverment done for Airbus UK, namely Filton and Broughton (Wales), ****** all. The Germans and the French are about to stich us up, just watch the news tommorrow.

The German and French governments have stepped in to save their own, what have ours done, let more refugees in...........

Lord B. I can alter my intelligence quota to the company I keep. I can socialise at all levels of the spectrum if you know what I mean eh like mate. As far as brains are concerned I try to keep mine active in all aspects of life not just the postings on this forum - I have you know I am a regular reader of the Daily Mail and I often watch BBC2.
