I tried posting on the Eriba Owners Photo Board last night however it's not appeared anywhere - don't have time today to figure it out...

basically, the locker door just inside the door of our Eriba has fallen apart - first the lock snapped (kids fault, I have a new one on order from Jandi), then with the door folded-out for the bed the screws holding the hinge on all came out! (this is the hinge on the internal piece of wood that folds up to hook onto the main frame of the bed).

I did a running repair but the same thing happened the next night, so the door is now lying on the floor.

my question is: is it worth replacing (or perhaps glueing in?) the screws, or do you have any other ideas? the screws go in but are not seated properly, and the wood has started to splinter.

sorry if that's a bit wordy, just wondered if you had any better ideas before I start DIYing - I dont want to totally ruin the door if I can help it.

many thanks

Mark,

It's probably worth doing the following:

1. Try to saturate the wood with exterior white PVA glue - that's the water resistant woodworking glue.

2. Eriba use the German SPAX screws - take one from the hinge with you to B&Q or buy a hobby set from screwfix - and just go one or two sizes up (- both in diameter and length

If the worst happens, then reposition the hinges or replace the wood bearer.

Hi Robert

sorry for delay in replying, I actually had to go out and work today! Shocking.

thanks for the advice, I'll try it at the weekend. I just didn't want to make to problem worse by botching it - I did think of repositioning the hinges but though it would then be impossible to line up the wood bearer.

I'll also get myself sorted on the Eriba members board.

Thanks again.

p.s. we love our Eriba, even more so now we have the Herzog awning with inner tent! get lots of strange/curious looks! there was an almost identical older Eriba at Chatsworth last week too.
