Hi Tina, Have you seen the posting in the Technical section under the 'truma heater' heading. I veered off the subject of heaters and anyway read my posting and let me know waht you think. By the way if I've got this right you are a new caravanner with young children -like me. Denise

Hi Denise

I went through Truma, sent the whole fire back, they tested every piece and replaced the switch for free, they were fantastic,I think it is a case of bad placement in the van because as soon as we put it back in it packed in again!,will try moving the sensor,as for the warranty with it bieng my first van I (stupidly maybe)assumed that it was like a car and would be transfered, and the dealer never mentioned otherwise(suprise!)

Yes have only had it since April and had Five great adventures so far!! My two little uns are 4 and 2 and they absolutely LOVE it so cant grumble about minor gliches, what about you ? are you coming to the easter meet? how old are your children?? Safe hols

Tina, We only picked up our van on Sat and it is still on our drive whilst we fiddle around with it and get it ready for winter storage. The only thing we can't find and maybe you can help is we are trying to drain the water heater and in the book it shows a lever which you turn to open the drain valve. We are assuming that this is on the outside of the van but can't see it. We hope to do our first trip at Easter - don't know where yet. Where is this meet? My children are little girl 4 and twin boys 16 months - are we mad taking up caravanning - well we won't know until we try it. We have been on the usual spainish holidays when we just had Lucy and she was ill for the whole week and being stuck in an apartment with nothing to do was not good and we couldn't get home either. Last year we did a villa in France but now she has started school those holidays are v expensive, so it was my husband who had the idea of getting a van. I can see now why all the people on this forum are so 'into it' its like a new hobby and very addictive. Hope you can help with the heater and nice to 'speak' to you.

Hi Denise, If you look at the water heater and trace the hoses coming from it you will see the drain valve screwed to the floor close to the heater, within probably within 12" to 18" from the heater.

Best of luck with the new van.

Hi Denise

Firstly I recall you've bought a 2004 Lunar is that right? If so please DONT put it away, you will be snug as bug wherever you go(run the heater on gas until problem sorted)the kids will LOVE it ! I have a zenith, as you are in the van looking forward, under the right front seat is where all the water taps are, mine is placed in the vertical position to drain the water ! hope that helps, but I did post a question on putting the van away for winter, got some good replys if you have a look at that, I've got my propane ready because I cant bear to put it away, even if you just tootle nearby the kids see it as an adventure, the meeting for Easter is in Worcesteshire! It would be great to see you all,! Anyway I promise after your first trip, which is usually disasterous, but great fun,you too will be addicted !!!!!!!!!

Take care

Just a thought Denise - if your first trip out in your van is at Easter why dont you attend the meet with the peasants off this forum at Stourport. They will be on site then to show you what to do setting up. I remember my first time, I think I would have still been there if I hadn't had help from another vanner :O) My first time out in the van I mean Lol before you make a comment lmaaoooo.

Yes I have been thinking about it. The only problem is we live in Cornwall and it would be a long way to go for our first trip - mind you knowing that there would be lots of people to help it may be worth it. We had thought we would do something local first. I'll have to look at where it is - but i'm thinking at 50mph it will take hours just to get out of Cornwall!

It would probably take you about 5 hours + stopping time if you live in west Cornwall.

Yes. We didn't think of looking under the seat - not much to learn have we! The van is going in tomorrow I think I will miss it even though its only been on our drive for a week. Ive got quite attached to it already - its the first thing I see when I open the curtains in the morning. Luckily none of the neighbours have complained yet - we live on a small estate 25 houses and caravans boats commercial vechs aren't allowed so I'm amazed we havent upset someone. By the way it is a 2005 Quasar 615 we liked it because of the bunks and single bed at the back for the kids. I think you are right we will give Easter a miss and do something local where if we fall out its not far to get home!! Take Care Denise.
