Hi all,im just writing a quick note to thank everybody who has responded to my questions over the past few weeks ye have saved me endless stressful reasearch and trial and error. As i read down the posts when i have a chance i realise that there is a wealth of knowledge and experience out there and cant help but feel a little bit guilty as i only seem to take and give nothing back, however i assure you that this is mainly because im only going into my fourth caravaning year and really do not feel experienced enough to give advice to people for fear it might be incorrect and may cause somebody difficulty, however in the future i will make a dedicated effort to contribute in whatever way possible.

happy caravaning luke

Hello Luke

As Jo-Anne says, dont put yourself down and I'm sure all the members of the forum will be glad to know that they've saved you some hassle.

As for taking and not giving back, actually you have given something back simply by asking questions. Everytime somebody asks a question or raises an issue any answers might help untold numbers of caravanners as well as the member who asked on here, so don't feel guilty.

Never be afraid to join in, everybody's experience and opinion is valid.

Don't worry Luke. If you give bad advice, somebody will correct you, and then we'll all learn! I've been caravanning for over 40 years, and I'm still learning. Long may it continue.

hi luke

dont worry mate no one knows it all like emmerson says I've been caravanning almost 40 years and still learning because there is allways something new that crops up.

some of us old timers are really only just getting to grips with new technology so new members can be just as usefull at pointing posters in the right direction so if you have something to say lets hear it.

for instance it was only last year that I found out (from a newbie)that my electrolux fridge had winter covers (never had those before)and there was me wondering why the fridge cupboard got hot in the middle of summer.

Thanks for that colin i think you may have inadvertantly solved another problem for me. In hindsight that makes perfect sense as a small bit of the wood trim started to lift on side of the fridge last summer while in italy which has benn sorted by a carpenter friend of mine ,i wont be making that mistake again. Its funny the bits you learn as you go i laugh to myself when i think about our first trip away and my first time towing a caravan which was a senator oaklahoma from cork to roslare roslare to pembroke to dover to calais and on through france over the mont blanc and down to rome we had collected the caravan 2 days previous knew a sum total of nothing so it pays to go slow and triple check everything and now 3 years later and 2 layout changes on we are off to lake garda in august for the month with with our 2 best pairs of friends that we are slowly converting over to the caravan side.Oh and needless to say my better half is only to delighted with the forum as it keeps me nice and busy when she wants the tv to herself.

Hi Luke

Well I'm still learning and still making mistakes. The simplest of tips get forgotten and it's only by people asking that they resurface and help those like me who have forgotten.

Keep posting and enjoy your hobby.

Cheers

Luke, don't forget that to have input on a forum isn't just about answering others technical problems.

Just by posting comments of a site you have just visited will help someone.

Luke, a fresh pair of eyes often see what us old timers have been missing for years.

While we all might seem knowledgable to the enth degree, we were green horns once.

The forum is all about communication and continuing the friendly banter you find out on site.

Don't feel that if you as a rather simple question, that we will take the mick, cos we won't, and it doesn't matter a jot so long as everone has a great time enjoying their caravanning exploits.
