Ferries Italy/Greece

Does anyone have any recent experience of the Italy/greece route? Which Italian port is best to sail from, what is approx cost for car/van, can you just turn up and get on (out of main season) etc etc?? Price of sites, Quality?
Thinking of doing this trip May/June.
 
Both Bari and brindisi do routes to Greece from Italy,to be honest do a search of these routes should bring up the operators
Know nothing about Greece, but if you need camp-sites in Italy try www.camping.it/
Tolls will be considerable as to get down to Bari or further away brindisi involves some 600 miles of toll roads in Italy alone.
