Hello, I'll try to phrase my Q simply as my post yesterday seemed to provoke what seemd to me a rather bizarre tirade: does anyone know whether it is cheaper to book this ferry direct via the website or whether other orgs e.g. CC offer discounts. Thanks, Liz

Hi Scottishlass,

Only you'll be able to find this one at present i.e. what's on offer today. Ferry operators have a variety of things on the mind when they make up next years pricing. I guess the biggest one is the commitment by its freight customers to buy so many spaces per crossing i.e. if Superfast's say has 100 truck spaces available per crossing and it forward sells 60 of these;(it's known as commitment in the trade) then it would look to sell the remaining capacity through the cheapest portal -usually its website (it's not then paying a commission to CC) However it would make some concession to CC for commercial reasons - building brand awareness etc. To my knowledge though this route isn't over subscribed in the summer.

hi scottishlass, i stay in walking distance to the ferry and the last 3 years have quotes for 1200 pounds 2 adults 2 kids kia sedona and 5.5 mtr caravan,i would not use the ferry at this price.this year sailed dover/callias for 140 pounds return, near 100 pounds each way for fuel,510 miles and 11 hours drive.its a rip off.i know that the ferry operators have reduced the price for freight as it was cheeper for the trucks to drive to hull and sail over night
