Last week in June we are catching the ferry to Caen and depending on the weather we are hoping to either stay in northern, or southern Brittany or down as far as Royan area if the weather is a bit iffy further north. We are looking for campsites near the sea and within walking distance of a village or small town, asking a lot I know. We are looking for campsites with swimming pool, restaurant etc but don't need much else. We have stayed at Le Letty and also La Puits de L'auture in St Palais further south, both are lovely. Has anyone suggestions of other sites they could recommend.

many thanks

Chad

We've been told that St Jean de Monts area in the Vendee is beautiful with lots to do. Have been recommended La Yole campsite which is where we are taking our tourer this August. You could look on various websites for info on st jean de monts but we're told its an ideal surrounding area for cycling and relaxing, close to beach, but at night St Jean de Monts comes alive and is ideal for families. We have two children 8 and 11 and they are really looking forward to going there from what they've seen on the internet.

We have stayed at Park St Brigitte many times. La Turballe is walkable from the site in about 30 mins. The site has a restaurant and a heated swimming pool with cover. Its in the Southern most part of Brttany near La Baule and Guerande where there is a mass of salt flats. Lots of beaches in the area and other interesting things to see as well.

Bois Soleil at St Georges De Didonne is a popular site, right on the beach and about a mile walk from the pleasant town centre. They are in they Camping Cheques bokk also.

Thanks for your recommendations. We have been to both St Jean and also La Baule but not stayed at camp sites in the areas. Have looked at many websites on the internet but most are geared up with animations etc for children, we don't need that as our children fled the nest many years ago!!

Hope it imprves as currently France wet and cold. All people we have met are hiding in Spain. We were supposed to go north to Perpignan but hanging on here in Valencia as even here it is struggling.

Just read a previous post re Benodet, says its a magical place. We have only stayed at Le Letty but would be interested in details of other sites in Benodet which are more suitable for couples.
