I am going to buy a Fiamma Caravanstore Sun Canopy.I have read all the previous comments here re them. I have an Elddis Odyssey 524 where the awning rail 'curves' slightly downwards towards the front of the 'van. I would like to order the 360cms sun canopy but this would include using about 40cms of the slight 'curve' to the front. This would make about 1" difference in level from the awning rail at the back of the canopy to that at the front. Can anyone tell me if this would make any difference to the fitting and use of the canopy. In other words, must the whole length of the bag be on the straight part of the awning rail?

Lawrence,

I have used one for a few years. When you roll the caravanstore back into the bag there is not much room to play with once the roller is in the bag. I doubt whether you would be able to fully zip up the bag. Also the roof may not be as tight as it should be, If you are buying from a dealer , see if he will let you try the one you want on your caravan.

I have had the Caravanstore and the Zip for about 7 years

It doesn't matter if the rail isn't straight when the awning is extended but I used to slide the whole lot back along the roof to roll them up for transit

It is vital that you peg and guy them as soon as erected as they like to lie on the van roof with legs akimbo

Hi,

I bought the same size Caravanstore a month ago for my Sterling Trekker, it has a slight slope toward the front... not sure how much, maybe less than an inch though, but I have no problem with it.

Not sure what price you've found, but if you're in West Midlands I got mine from Jacksons for

Thanks, Hamer. This is what I am concerned about - maybe go for the smaller one.

Thanks Watson (John G)- The problem is that the bag will not be fully on the 'straight part' of the awning rail when it is wound in. I am concerned that the pole will not fit back into the bag if it is 1" in difference from front to back.
