Our front locker had a small crack in it, hubby used fibre glass that you buy from a car shop. on the underside of the locker door. Not sure what he filled the air gap with, but it doesn't stand out, you only notice that's it's been repaired when you open the locker door and see the fibreglass.

Not sure if this will help. Have you looked in the Haynes Caravan Manual? t

They usually have one open two have a browse at in your local caravan store, or you could see you if they have one in your locl library.

All the materials for a glassfibre repair are available from Halfords as kits or individual components. If the panel has been struck, a small section may have spintered off behind the panel, leaving the area rather thin. The best repair would be to access the rear of the panel and add some glassfibre mat and resin to restore the strength and ensure its watertight.

Hi Kevin,

How old is your Lunar Lexon - Is it still inside warranty?

Is the door between the tow hitch and the caravan wheels or behind the wheels?

The reason for asking is that it is not uncommon for stress cracks to appear above the top of front doors. All of the towing stress is taken by the ALKO chassis, but movement forces (from pot-holes and the like) in the caravan body is concentrated around windows and particularly around the door top.

You should have no problem filling the crack with a GRP repair kit, but it will just open up again. Five inches is quite a long crack and indicates considerable stress in that area.

The correct solution is to remove the inner panelling and add a couple of extra layers of GRP to the back of the door surround, and then fill the crack.

Some manufacturers fit an internal aluminium bracing panel above the door - you could do the same if you have easy access to the inside.

Kevin

I used to to work in a GRP shop.

The best way you can fix this is has the overs say you need to get to the back to do a good repair that going to last and look rigth.

There is one over way but it will take a lot of work but I dod not now how long it would last.

A lot of these cracks are caused by foot balls hitting the fibre glass panels ,we had a ball hit the rear light ,allthough the light lens was intact the impact cracked the fibre glass panel around it
