Personally I am not in favour. Yes, if there is a small fire inn the awning then maybe a bucket of water can do some good, but if it is a fire in the van what are you going to do? Run in and chuck water over it, especially as the electric cable is hooked up?

Sorry, my opinion is that if the fire is getting beyond the initial stages, then get everybody out, and as far away as possible and call the Fire Brigade. Ok, if your van burns down, then so be it. At least you are alive and the insurance will take care of the rest.

Happy Lappy

I was talking about its age duration rather than time spraying performance. At 7 years old do you think I should change mine?

Scotch lad is spot on. Let it burn and save lives first.

I think David has given a good answer, like caravan Tyres replace after 5 yrs irrespective of condition, this will at least give you peace of mind,

best regards, Martin

Hi David

I've had my current extinguisher seven years now. Will it work? No idea. Maybe I should have it tested or just buy a new one.

I'd never really thought about it's lifespan yet the ones at work were checked every year.

What does everyone else do?

Cheers

There should be an expiry date stamped on the extinguisher

Very good point about the lifespan of small caravan extinguishers, the thought of having it checked had never even crossed my mind!

Does anybody know how long they can be expected to last in full working condition? (and how would you know it was working unless you tested it?).
Should have an expiry date stamped on the extinguisher
