Includes list of available vans - I know this has been mentioned in the Discover Leisure administration thread, but thought it might be useful

THE REMAINING ASSETS of caravan retailer Discover Leisure are being sold off is specially staged events this weekend.

Discover Leisure, formerly the UK's largest caravan and motorhome dealer network has been in administration since mid-October. The group's administrators have published information about the sales event on the Discover Leisure website which can be seen by clicking here.

Taking stock
The dealer group's sites are open this weekend for the disposal of the remaining stock. This is presumed to be the remaining accessory shop stock, spare parts and those caravans and motorhomes not already sold on through the trade. The majority of the group's new stock, believed to number some 300 caravans from Bailey, Swift and Elddis, has been redistrubuted into the dealer network. The remaining vehicles remain at the sites and will be sold this weekend.

According to the notice, Chorley, York, Delamere, Darlington and Birtley branches will be trading over the weekend on a strictly cash only basis. The opening hours at all sites on Saturday are 9am - 5pm while on Sunday, sites will trade from 10am - 3pm.

The weekend sales include all the sale stock from the branches. The company's other assets such as commercial vehicles, workshop equipment and all other items owned by the country will be sold by online auction. Viewing of those items takes place on 6 December with bids being accepted up to 11am on 8 December. Further details about the auction can be gained from Sanderson Weatherall.
Published stock list
Below is the stock list published prior to the event. This lists caravans and a couple of folders and was taken from Sanderson Weatherall. No reponsibility is taken by Practical Caravan for any inaccuracies in this information. As can be seen, the list includes three new caravans as well as selection of used models.

We went today to the half price sale at Discover York, picked up some good bargains, and some items were running low when we left, if you are thinking of going be prpared to queue! the satellite equipment seemed popular as were winter covers and folding chairs, some people seemed to be buying enough toilet chemicals to fill a small swimming pool. The staff were friendly and helpful despite having a bit of gallows humour. The caravans listed by Nigel were outside but did not seem to attracting much attention really, there was one motorhome as well for sale. It was cash only and there were a few problems with the tills not scanning items so sometimes the queue was a bit slow moving. Worth a look if you are in the area, again I must add it is a shame for the employees and I don't think I would have been as cheerful as they were if I had just lost my job.

Heard from people on Facebook that trade was brisk but the queues were not...

Sad for all concerned but if some people save a few quid over the last days, that's the best outcome at this stage

Hope you got some good stuff!

Same senario at Chorley.
I got there at 9am and was served 3 hrs later.
I too noted the amount of toilet chemicals people were buying ................. years worth in some cases.
Sat equipment and solar panels favourites, as well as chairs.
There was even people taking down the display awnings, packing them and taking the ticket to the till !!!!!

Two new chairs for the awning and a dinner set were on my shopping list.
Struck lucky and got exactly what i wanted, saving over £60.

What i noticed most was the patience of all the people, no pushing or shoving, swapping items with each other, even friendly advice if another couldn't find what they were after.

Even the "security" guards were shopping !!!!

Shame business was not always that way..

Mat
