Well I suppose it's the end of the festive season as I take the decorations down later.
So got me thinking apart from those who've been out over Xmas. When is your first outing of the year and where are you planning?

we all need something to look forward to, so ours is a winter rally in Cheshire in two weeks time, then for the kids half term in feb off to Northumbria, just got to find a site lol.

happy caravanning for the new year.
cheers
John

Possibly early march.

Trying to think where though, also usualy March starts off windy like at the moment. Was away in bad winds October 2012 on a hill on Anglesey and finished up having a small rip in the awning repaired when we got back home. Managed to straighten out the pole (used to work with tubular items).

Enjoy your time away.

We've had our first one at New Year. Not sure about the next one, sometime in February Ithink.
We're slowing down a bit this year. Not much happening early season, and only 6-8 weeks in Europe in May/June.
Age and infirmity creeping up on us now, so if we slow down we might be able to keep going for longerr!

Hi there, at the moment our first weekend booked is 21 March to Cirencester CC site as a 'test run' for the first time, however, if the weather is good enough we may go earlier than this. Last year we went away the weekend before to Broadway and it poured the whole time! The poor van is looking grubby and has the odd leaf adorned on it so won't be long before it has it's annual Spring Clean outside and in ... getting excited now thinking of our first trip away. Apart from that weekend we have managed to get in at Baltic Wharf in July (watch out Brizzol we'll be out on the town on the Sat night) and my youngest sister and husband will spend their first night in our van with us, we have got a night booked in Newent as we are off to The Three Choirs Vineyard again for a belated Silver Wedding Anniversary celebration with our friends, we managed to get a week at Pembury CC site at the start of the school holidays and are very excited as my sister, brother in law and 2 young nieces and Wilbur the dog will be joining us in their Trigano Trailer Tent, I really hope the weather is as good as it was the week we were away last summer, 80+ every day and we lived on the beach or in the park and we also have a week booked leading up to BH Weekend in August for us and my parents (in their small camper van) at The Old Oaks Touring Park in Somerset. Trying to be more spontaneous and not book up too many weekends at the moment as sometimes this can interfere with those unexpected invites at weekends, but we hope to be away 2 out of every 4 weekends from April onwards. I have missed my bunting and fairy lights and all things caravan, including that smell! Looking foward also to trying out our new small porch awning (that's 3 awnings we have now, plus a canopy lol). Happy days to come I hope and fingers crossed we have a dry summer like last year!!! Oh and a very Happy New Year to you all, I've not been able to communicate much on here as we've been very busy but I have dipped in an out and caught up when I could. Lisa

Do you have a sticker in your caravan with your forum name on it? We don't but we will try to be near to the children's play area (gulps in a large amount of air) as my nieces are 5 and 3 respectively and will want to be near it so that we won't have to traipse miles to keep an eye on them. Have ordered copious amounts of ear plugs ready as both have a good set of lungs and vocal chords on them when playing!!! I have put an order in for good weather too

Just booked four days at Broadway for Easter (well we leave the day before Good Friday) and have booked my parents in too as I suspect this will be their first outing of 2014 and also booked Whitsun week in Pembrokeshire but not in the caravan as we are off with friends to stay in a converted barn as last years' week long stay in a Shepherd's Hut destroyed the husband and we cannot persuade him to go anywhere near a caravan be it a tourer or static and never again a shepherds hut!!! At least the barn has its own hot tub ...

Hopefully, we won't be too far from the play area - our kids will be 14 and 11! I'll make sure there's a 'crazyguider' sign in there somewhere! You'll be more than welcome to rest the eardrums with us! I, too, have ordered good weather..Should be a blast!

Like the idea of the good weather ... we were there year before last on the one and only fabulous week of the year - the first week of the school summer holidays and it was heaven! Ordinarily as my son is 17 we wouldn't need to be near the play area but it's not fair on my sister and brother in law to expect them to walk miles to our pitch as the girls will most likely be on the play area when we're not at the beach. I'll try to remember to put a soldlisa04 sticker someone either in the car or van and I'm sure we'll meet if your boys are that age as they will more than likely be around that area too. Have you stayed there before?

we've not actually stayed at Pembrey itself, but we holidayed at Camarthen Bay Holiday Park for 3 years until 2009, and discovered it then. I really liked the look of the site then.We got sunburnt, windblasted and drowned in the same place over 3 years!! My daughter and I are planning to go riding - the stables are great, and my son and hubby want to do the toboggans! We're taking bikes, too. I remember that week - we went to Wales the following week...Hopefully this year will be lovely.

We did the tobaggans ... it was great fun and we got sunburnt too! My friend wore a very fetching tea towel around her shoulders during the run. The bike hire looks good too as it saves trying to fit bikes in the car/van and we could all go out for a bike ride as it's so flat around there. How far are the riding stables from the site? My nieces may like to have a go at horse riding (well if they have very small horses that is!).

The riding stables are just round the corner on the park. They have really tiny ponies (as I remember) up to 'full sixe' horses. They do a short, led ride for those new/inexperienced with riding, up to long hacks. It's very clean and tidy and the chap that runs it is very nice (altho he does get cross with those of a certain religious faith who try to break the short ride down into 2 mins per child and only pay the one price...get him on the subject and he'll rant for hours!!). Daughter and I are hoping to go on a long hack this time - can't wait!

Oooh my two nieces would love that! They're into My Little Ponies anyway lol. Must let my sister know as this could be a nice activity to do one day should it not be nice enough to be on the beach. Thank you very much!
