Having just had a succesful first year's caravanning in the UK this year we're starting to plan next year's summer holiday. We've just booked a ferry crossing Dover - Calais in late Jul coinciding with the school hols as we have 6 and 2 year old. We have 2 weeks and was planning a stop over in Normandy to break outward and return journey with bulk of time in Britanny. I would be very grateful as to any suggestions for sites that are family friendly but not too commercialised or noisy and preferably near the sea. Grateful for any advice for this already much anticipated trip.

Have a look at Camping du Bohat near Sarzeau, good sized pitches, clean facilities, no noisy disco's etc and coast 10 mins away, it's in the Caravan Club European Travel Brochure.

Hi Andy

Our recommendation for an excellent family holiday site in Brittany is always Camping Du Letty in Benodet. We have stayed there a number of times both as tenters and 'vanners. Even now our grown-up kids say that they will go with us if we go there!!!

It's a quiet family orientated site with its own beach and good facilities but no noisy discos, etc.

You can read my, and others', reviews at

Whilst it's nearer to Roscoff and the other ports of Brittany/Normandy we have travelled there from Dover too. The AA routeplanner at theaa.com will give you a detailed route right to the campsite from Calais or any other French port - it actually has Du Letty in its database.

Hope this is some help

Happy Hols to you

Best wishes

Tim
