Hiya, first post, thought I would give it a go. Ive been told ive got osteoarthritis in myb spine - now I know why my backs been aching in the mornings, I thought it was the alcohol !!! Anyway, unable to change the van at the moment to a fixed bed option (credit crunch and all that) we thought we would try and change the end bed on our 5 berth lunar to a fixed bed as we are usually on our own now. It seems as though it should be a fairly straight forward job, and OH is a bit of a 'handy andy', just wondered if anyone had done this before and put a proper mattress in place of the caravan cushions.

Bit technical Jill but here goes, 1.lift out caravan cushions 2. put mattress in place where cushions were.

Jill,

Not completely sure what you are asking. If you just wish to put in a domestic style mattress then no problem, as long as you get the correct size. I have some friends who have a 2 berth van but do exactly that when they go to France. As they state, they only sleep in the van in the heat and therefore having a good mattress makes all the difference. They leave it permanently?? made up until they return to the UK. They revert back to the cushions in the UK, but as they have now decided that holidaying in the UK is too expensive and the weather is awful, they now stay in Spain from April to October.

Or are you thinking of swopping the supporting system to a sprung base? That could be a bit more tricky
