I think it would be a good idea if possible, to find to find out if your van was offered with a folding bunk option, as many were before fixed bunks arrived. If so, then the caravan wall should have the appropriate strengthening built in, which will be essential.

did you find it a straight forward job any suggestions?

we have a fleetwood colchester and there was a option of extra bunks put in when origanally purchased but unfortunatly we bought it secondhand!

so at least we know this caravan can accomadate them!

I simply replaced the rear bunk which I had removed when the van was new in order to fit a fixed double bed

It was quite awkward aad had a metal frame that was mounted at design points on the sides and floor

The one in the add seems easier as it looks like a suspended fabric base that the seat cushion then sits on

As has been stated you would need to find out where the reinforced mounting points are either with a stud finder or by looking at a similar van with the bunks

When I did it I got all the parts from a caravan breakers and to be sure the brackets stayed fixed to the wall which is the biggest problem I fitted a slim section of hardwood from the bunk base to the cupboard which was glued and screwed and faced in wall board vinyl to match. It never came away.

Like you, my van is a Bessacarr Cameo supplied as a 3 berth, but also avilable with an extra bunk over the side dinette. The mounting plates on my extra bunk metal frame take 3 pan head screws at each plate, and since it has to positioned between the head and foot of the lower bunk, its position is pretty well determined, once you have the upper bunk unfolded and the appropriate parts set up horizontally and vertically
