My Abbey caravan has a Status 315 omnidirectional aerial fitted as sttandard. I find it pretty poor so at the suggestion of Grade UK I'm think of replacing it with a Status 530 aerial.

Has anyone tried fitting one themeselves [preferbaly replacing the 315]?

Someone else who thinks that the OmniDirectional aerial is rubbish - we found it absolutely useless too - mind I never thought the ealrier one was muuch cop either unless you were in an area with wonderful reception.

I thought it was me, tried the thing so many times. Checked the connections, the two different setting and nothing. Is it worth upgrading?

Go onto this web site http://www.aerialsandtv.com part of the article on caravan aerials says when you get a good picture in your van its because you are in a good reception area ,you would probabley get the same picture with a metal coat hangar ,

I change my 315 to a 350, in my case the long shaft one. I used the plastic dish Status sell to cover the holes for the original screws and cable. Fortunately I could locate the new hole on that disc but to get the internal bracket spaced the correct distance off the wardrobe it was a touch off centre. Only problem is finding the courage to bore a large hole in the new vans roof. I got a tube cutter for my electric drill from B&Q and bored through plastic & dish roof in one shot. I made a pilot hole with a piece of piano wire first from inside to make sure it was exactly the right distance from the wardrobe wall, the the big hole I drilled from the top.

All was easy and the reception performance is excellent.
