Hi Robert

After owning several different caravans over the years with various layouts, all of which we enjoyed, we finally managed to buy a fixed bed Abbey Cardinal 495 dealer special. There are just the two of us so we do not lack for space in our caravan.

We wouldn't like to go back to another layout and although the washroom is slightly compromised we always use the on site facilities.

Carole can go to bed while I watch the telly, and she can stay in bed next morning while I make a nice cup of tea

We have a coachman vip 530/4 which is our first fixed bed van, we bought it as our children are now 18 and 16 and seem a bit reluctant to come away all the time so the van is ours and the dogs.

Up to now we are very pleased with the fixed bed it is very comfortable and plenty big enough, its great to come back at night and not have to make up the bed.

However we do miss the end bathrooms we had on all our other vans, the one in this van is just too small we thought we would be able to cope but the truth is it just is not good enough and on the coachman it is quite large compared to some others we looked at so if you want a bathroom that you can use dont bother with a single axle fixed bed get a twin with an end bathroom.

If you can live without the bathroom then a 4 birth fixed bed is fantastic for 2.
