Fleetwood Heritage 600 CB 2002 – No Interior Lights (All Other Systems Working)

Hello everyone,

I’ve recently bought a Fleetwood Heritage 600 CB. When I collected it, everything was working fine. After towing it home, however, I’ve found that none of the interior 12 V lights work.

  • All other systems are fine (pump, heater fan, sockets, fridge, radio).
  • I’ve checked all fuses in the PSU and the ones near the leisure battery – all test good with a multimeter.
  • The issue is the same whether I’m on mains hook-up or running directly off the leisure battery.
  • Battery is new and charging as expected.

It looks like it’s only the lighting circuit that’s dead. Has anyone with a Heritage 600 CB had this issue, or knows if there’s a common weak point (relay, control panel feed, hidden fuse, or earth return for the lighting loom)?

Also, the van is fitted with an Adle 3000 heater. Can anyone advise how I can test if it’s functioning correctly and what the correct operation sequence should be?

Any help or tips from fellow Heritage owners would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Mateusz

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I suggest you look at the rear of the battery box and follow the live wire from the battery. You should come to an in-line fuse, normally 20amp. This may have blown. Remember though. If it has blown, there is normally a reason for it.

I would suggest checking this, but he has stated the Battery is charging ,and if this is correct then rules blown fuse out,

Hello John,

Thanks very much for the reply.

I’ve double-checked – everything else in the caravan works fine (pump, heater fan, sockets, fridge, radio), whether I’m on mains or leisure battery. It’s literally just the interior lights that are completely dead.

I was wondering if perhaps the lighting loom shares a common earth or positive feed that could have failed, as it feels too “all or nothing” to be just one fitting.

Do you know if there’s anywhere I could find a service manual or wiring information for the Fleetwood Heritage 600 CB to help trace the circuits properly?

Also, as the van is fitted with an Adle 3000 heater, I’d appreciate any tips on how to check if it’s working correctly and what the proper sequence of operation should be.

Thanks again,
Mateusz

I have not heard of the lighting circuit being a common problem, which does not help you, I suspect it will need a you to investigate in a logical manner.

I would start with checking there is power and continuity for both 12V+ve and 0V -ve wiring at the relevant fuses, and then switches, and then start proving continuity between all connected light fittings, switches and fuses.

Regarding the Alde heater, I believe most of the owners manuals and other paperwork is available online. Just a note of warning before removing or dismantling any gas appliance check whether you can do so legally or whether you must employ a professional gas engineer to undertake such work. The rules on this will depend on what country you are in.

Sorry, I thought you said you had no 12volt system. I imagine you have checked your 12 volt fuse box. It could be that your lights work off a ring, and any break would put them all out. Needs investigating with a tester or multimeter.

If you give the year of your van it would help in finding wiring diagrams.

Look at YouTube re the heating.

The main time that 12v lighting doesn't work but everything else does is when a lighting isolator switch remains turned off.

As far as the Alde's concerned - 1) turn domestic water drain switch off - 2) connect water supply - 3) bleed air out of each tap in turn, this will fill the Alde hot water tank - 4) ensure Alde fluid level is set to 1cm above minimum on the header tank - 5) on Alde control panel, switch system on - 6) select power source, you can choose the electric power level and choose whether electric only, gas only or both - 7) set temperature setting to desired level.

If you want to use the timer settings, read the manual!

Hello all,

Thanks very much for the advice and links so far – really helpful.

Just to clarify – the van is a 2002 Fleetwood Heritage 600 CB. Everything else works fine, it’s just the lights that are completely dead, whether I’m on mains or battery. My next step will be to put a multimeter directly on the light fittings themselves to check whether it’s the supply feed or the earth that has been lost.

I’m only aware of the main isolator switch by the door, so if there are any other hidden isolators or cut-offs affecting the lighting circuit specifically, I’d really appreciate some pointers.

As for the Alde 3000, from what I gather, the first job will be to flush the system and refill it with fresh fluid. The caravan seems to have seen only limited use over the past few years, so I’d rather start with a clean baseline before running it. What puzzles me is that it was inspected by a technician in 2023 and passed with just some minor bodywork notes – yet the lighting fault must have appeared since then.

Finally, I did check the manual link kindly shared, but unfortunately, there’s a gap in the Fleetwood handbooks between 1996 and 2004 – exactly where my van falls. Does anyone know of another source for the 2002 Heritage wiring/service information?

Thanks again for all the help,
Mateusz

Many thanks for sharing. I will have to take pictures of the fuse box later, once I'm at the site. Will post back here once done

Surely simpler to post the link to the ALDE website to access the manual as a download?
