Floor Delamination

Has anybody had experience with these delamination kits that involve drilling holes and squirting an epoxy resin into the floor?

I have just noticed a small "springy" area just in front of the door and am considering getting it fixed before it gets worse.

One of the mags coverred it a while back and rated the kit quite highly.

Personal experience anyone?

If water ingress is not the cause of delamination but the floor is simply not durable enough to meet the demands made on it during its normal operating lifetime expectancy, then this would indicate to me that substandard materials were used by the caravan manufacturer.

After 14 years of regular use I do not think delamination indicates substandard materials. The materials available at the time of manufacture were adequate for the purpose bearing in mind that that it had to be light enough to tow!! Thank goodness modern repair materials make light work of repair.

It is simply a sign of normal wear & tear. Nothing lasts forever. I shall repair it and continue to use and enjoy it.

If what you say were true the carpet in your home, the tyres & brake pads on your car, the hinges on your cupboards, the computor you use to communicate your views, would all last forever.

It must be a nice world you live in.

Have just posted answer to Ian as today I have removed the carpet to replace it and saw the original repair. There was no sign of damp from the sink and the floor generally is good as is the rest of the caravan, which is also 14 years old and generally in excellent condition. Floor now rock hard and well worth the cost and effort. Carpet now about to be replaced and then we will look the bees knees!! Happy caravanning, Chris.

I don't think it's too much to expect the floor not to delaminate during the lifetime of the caravan. My own caravan is 13 years old, has always been stored outside and despite regular use the floor is still solid as a rock. After all, delamination is not a sign of normal wear and tear but of inadequate durability. I'd put the floor of the caravan in the same category as the walls of my house and I wouldn't expect them to crumble after a number of years.

I do not mind living in a house that is nearly 100 years old but I would not want to live in a caravan of that age!
