Fog Lights when driving solo

Just had a service and MOT on the Touareg. Seems the rear fogs are not working solo. They are not supposed to work when towing, only the caravan ones work. Solo they should. I suppose it’s back to the tow bar guy for more hi tech electrics. Anyone else had this problem?

Some sockets have a switch in the side through which the fog lights are fed. Insert the plug and the vehicle fog lights go off.
Having said that, on our VW there is no switch but the vehicle fog lights still do not work when hitched up. Could be an instruction within the ECU that has been missed when the update for towing was done?

We also got VW no problems with the fog lights on our car working solo not tried them with the caravan next outing give you a further update 🙂

On my Skoda it was a part of the recoding required when the towbar was fitted. But this was done by the towbar installer.
