I have been caravanning for 43 years although there was big break in the middle. My parents got a six berth cavalier with glass windows, no hot water (it did have an electric water pump though) no shower and only a slide out cupboard area to the side of the kitchen that you could put a chemical toilet in if you so decided; t was used for storage for most of the time to be honest. They sold that in the late 80s so as an independent soul I took up tenting as I couldn’t really afford a caravan. My parents travelled the world for a bit when we left home and then went halves with my sister on a folding camper the early 00s eventually getting rid of that a couple of year back, we stayed with them a few times but carried on camping in a range of tents. And then this year we jumped and bought our own caravan; as our children are young I can’t envisage us not being caravanners for the foreseeable future. And I make no apologies. Anyway I reckon that the carbon footprint for my Terrano is less than that of my friends who, having no kids, jet off for holidays in the sun three times a year.
