Ford verus Fiat/Peugeot

Is there a reason that a motorhome based on a Ford chassis is likely to cost less than a similar van in a Fiat or Peugeot chassis. I have been looking at Challenger and Chausson motorhomes and the difference in price can be Euro 6K.

This set my mind wondering about the reason. Is the servicing more expensive or is the Ford unit more likely to fail early. I have read about the dual mass fly wheels failing but that I believe is common to both carriers.

Any ideas?

Personally, I've always preferred Fords for comfort and reliability.
We currently have a Citroën (same stable as Fiat and Peugeot) mainly because were were buying used this time, on a tight budget, with specific (or fussy!) layout and equipment requirements. But because it's older, I can't really offer a comparison with our last Transit, beyond the fact that I preferred the Ford driving position, and its heated windscreen!
