Has anybody experience good or bad of claiming via Voyager insurance.I need to cancel my holiday and spent in total one and a half hours in phone queues only once getting to talk to someone who said 'the computer off I will ring you back in 5 minutes' that was five days ago.The insurance was arranged through a well known highly respectable booking service, whose owner rang me after I complained to them,he then contacted the company who said they would send me a form that was four days ago. What rubbish service is that!

Hi

Make a list of all that you have done, the delays, the non-responce times, the promises etc etc.

And send a complaint letter to the Compliance Officer - details should be on your policy documents.

The sad thing is that Voyager is a subsidary of CGU (Commercial General Union - the name coined when NU took over General Accident and Commercial Union - those of us with experience of Norwich Unions appalling administration felt that a better name would be Commercial Accident)

This from their website:-

"This insurance is arranged with UK Underwriting Ltd on behalf of Primary Insurance Company Ltd, Indemnity Insurance Ltd and CGU Insurance plc trading as Norwich Union"

When you say the cover was arranged by a "respected booking service" - what do you mean? - was it the Travel agent?

If so - I suspect you have you have just fallen foul of the sales technigue that gets you to pay a high premium for a "so-so" policy.

If so go back to the Travel Agent and demand that they do something - it is my understanding that under the new FSA (Financial Services Authority) "Introducer" rules for General Insurance plans - if they recommended the plan then they should handle the admin.

Sounds like you have been given the run arround.

Time to start banging the table I think!

Hi Clive it was arranged through Select Sites who I have used many times and as I said Andrew the owner rang me himself and even though he contacted voyager last Wednesday the form still has not arrived I am confident he will do all he can.I myself work in the insurance industry which is why I was seeking feedback.

Hi again.

I just cannot understand why the delay? - these days with emails etc - I can be sent the details I need within minutes. The only delay being the time to find the relevant Document.

AXA IoM sent me all 9 Documents required for an IHT Discounted Gift Trust plan last Friday and have rang me to check that I have got them OK!

The Account Exec is ringing me lunchtime today to check we have all that we need as we are completing the paperwork on Thursday. Superb service.

In my view - the companies that tie into introducers to get business are those that would not get it by professional recommendation.

NU currently is woeful. Most IFA's are just not using them. How can we when they quote a 20+ day turn arround for even the simplest item/request?

Hi again Clive i had another email from Andrew at Select Sites today who advise that he has been again in contact with Voyager who say they have staffing problems (shorthand me thinks for staff jumpimg ship)but they have now (somewhat reaction not proaction)recruited somemore so I should get the form shortly! As you say most places including the tin pot insurance company I work for allow download of claim forms etc on line.I think it boils down to Norwich Union swallowing up company after company and they are now too big and have lost total control,in time no doubt it will implode, dont help me much although Select Sites had their part of the refund back to me in 48hours.

Agreed - Most IFA's I know are telling NU (Aviva!) that we will do them the favour of not placing business with them until they get their admin backlog sorted.

It seems to be working.
