Excuse my bluntness, but is there a way of improving this forum. I find it difficult to find old posts, and the comments "thing" is a pain, as you have to click on each link individually and then all the follwing posts on that thread vanish till you go back.

I use several forums, and most allow you to edit mistakes on posts, some allow you to "mark" threads of interest so you can find them easily, and genrally much more user-friendly.

I am a member of a model Helicoptor club and their forum is also better. See links for a few examples.

I await a barage of hatred, but I think everyone would benefit, and find it easier.

Have a good weekend :)

I dont know why you should think you will receive a barrage of hatred Rubix - even His Moddyship would admit the software needs updating and its not ideal. It's as basic as they come :O(

Thanks for your agreement Lord B.

I suppose I expected loads of comments like "we like it simple", or "we are used to it, so don't want change"

There is so much room for improvement, and it would really benefit everyone.

Hello Rubix,

There is a slightly differnt aspect to this forum compared to many. This is actually funded and run by Haymarket magazines. They gain no financial benefit from providing it, so they are less likely to be inclined to pour new money in to change it.

There is a general consensus that its software is outdated, and we have been promised a new engine (its been on the cards now for about 12 months) so there is some light at the end of tunnel, or is it the midnight special comming towards us?

In my opinion, more importantm than an all singing all dancing 'new' forum would be a change in policy to allow contstructive criticism both of products and sites.I know this discussion has been on another thread so will not elaborate further here.

The site loses much of its value to me by the lack of negative criticism about both product and caravan sites. The same could be said of the magazine to a degree but i do recognise the commercial pressures also.

Having said that, I still gain a lot of useful information from the site.

Forum etiquette states that "You may not transmit complaints about named companies or caravan parks. Such individual issues should be taken up with the company direct."

So there should be no problem with constructive criticism like:

"I did not like ...... because ......"

"We were not keen on ......"

"I thought that ......"

As long as you avoid individual or personal complaints about specific incidents or product faults that could be challenged in court.

Allan,

Hi Everyone, I am a little slow on using the pc, and trying to improve all the time. What I would like to know is how do I print the very useful information I receive in the answer to the forum in what I think is a friendly print. when ever I print a sheet it is always missing the end of the line. I do hope this is not a stupid question.

Thanks,

Allan.

Highlight the reply you want to copy by holding the left key down and dragging it over the answer. Having done this the page should be blue in colour. Go to EDIT (top left of screen) and click on copy. Reduce size of screen at top right - small dash. Open up MS Word and go to Edit again and paste. This should now have pasted your answer into MS Word. You can edit or do whatever you so wish here and then print off as for any normal Word document. You could also form a file and save it to either the hard drive or floppy disc for future reference. Good luck I hope you have understood the above.
