After changing my name from Mike (one of many) to Fouldsy, thought better introduce ourselves to the forum.
I am Mike and Emma is my lovely wife, we both enjoy the forum and have been vanning for about 2 years.
After saying I would never tow, we stayed in a van that belonged to a friend in Spain, it was okay, not slumming it as we had believed.
Having two dogs, holidays were becoming dog free or expensive and we wanted to take the dogs with us, so May bank hols 2004 after just looking at Lowdhams we bought a 1998 Compass Rallye 490/4L towed by our Forester 2.0 turbo.
It all started there, got away as much as we could, week ends spent at Clumber, first Christmas at Chatsworth.
Fav sites River Breamish, Broadway and Clumber (only an hour away).
Vanning has changed our lives, should have found it years ago, due to caravan obsession, have now changed tow car to a Kia Sorento and take delivery of a Swift Challenger 540 in June.
The new van was not part of the plan, but bad damp meant the Compass was going to cost money that was better spent.
Drink loads of Gin (Plymouth is the best) and more wine than the French.
I do all the cooking and Emma does the pots.
The dogs, Benson 16 year old Lab and Bridget the 4 year old fat whippetty type RSPCA job.
We live in a small village in the Vale of Belvoir.
Would like to know more about the regular forum folk as the same names are always keyboard ready.
Keep on vanning
