Freelander Towing limit

Hi, I am looking at trading in my Amara 500/5 for a Amara 560/6,

the 560/6 weight is 1560 MTWL, my Freelanders weight 1665 curb weight. I phoned the Caravan Club and they said it was at 100% and was not a good match. However I work it out as being around the 93% mark and that is without me, my wife and 3 kids in it, never mind any luggage in the boot. I know it is above the recommended 85%, however what do you think ?....any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks Tim

As you're obviously not new to caravanning I wouldn't have an issue with 93% so long as the towcar has enough power to pull the weight comfortably. You imply that you are hardly ever going to tow a fully laden caravan behind an empty car so that's a further reason not to be too concerned.

I tow a Lunar with a MTPLM of 1600 with my Freelander. Careful loading, tyre pressures (both car and van) and driving are more important than keeping within 85%. IMHO your intened outfit should be ok.
